Further, probiotic foods like yogurt may promote mental health and brain function by reducing inflammation and increasing the production of mood-boosting neurotransmitters, such as serotonin.

  • Blueberry: Blueberries are high in vitamin C and other antioxidants, such as flavonoids, that have been studied for their ability to improve brain health and relieve anxiety.

  • Bananas: Bananas have several compounds which help reduce stress while also helping you sleep better. Most noticeably, it contains vitamin B9 — a nutrient with antidepressant properties. It also contains tryptophan, which, much like vitamin B6, has sleep-inducing properties.

  • 2 cups plain Greek yogurt

  • 2 tablespoons honey (optional for a bit of extra sweetness)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • A handful of granola or fresh fruit for toppings (optional)

  1. Prep the Fruit: Place the sliced bananas and blueberries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze them for at least 2 hours or until they are completely frozen. (This step can be done ahead of time!)

  2. Blend It All Together: In a blender or food processor, add the frozen bananas, blueberries, Greek yogurt, honey, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and creamy. You might need to stop and scrape down the sides a few times to make sure everything is well mixed.

  3. Freeze Again: Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container. Smooth the top with a spatula. Cover and freeze for about 2-3 hours, or until the yogurt is firm enough to scoop. (Love blueberries? Stir in a couple whole before freezing again!)

  4. Serve and Enjoy: Scoop the frozen yogurt into bowls or cones. Top with your favorite granola or fresh fruit if you like, and enjoy your delicious homemade treat!

Kid-Friendly Tips:

  • Banana Slicing: Little ones can help by peeling the bananas and using a kid-safe knife to slice them.

  • Blending Fun: Let kids press the buttons on the blender and watch the ingredients swirl together. Just make sure an adult is supervising closely.

  • Topping Time: Kids can get creative by choosing and adding their favorite toppings. They can sprinkle granola, fresh fruit, or even a few chocolate chips on top of their yogurt.
